可中关村~ 说它是 silicon hutong 都是抬举。胡同代表了很多东西呢，很有一部分是美好的。 我看叫 silicon flea market 不错。 或者 silicon bazar 其实连那个silicon都不要要了。就要 中关村市场 ，中关村大卖场 都更贴切。 前两天听到一个说法 中介约等于骗子。 那中关村约等于什么呢？ ：）

update 20070720: 似乎中关村自己正式的翻译是 zhongguancun valley。我想问，这个翻译中zhongguancun我明白，是汉语拼音中关村。那个valley，峡谷从何而来。何时北京市内出现峡谷了。你们tmd想和人家sillcon valley貌似，这种做法也太可笑了。人家硅谷确实是峡谷地带啊。虽然后来这个词覆盖的面积越来越大，有些地区不是峡谷地带了。但开始人家还是有峡谷的。中关村哪里来的峡谷！

Geographically, “Silicon Valley” encompasses the northern part of Santa Clara Valley and adjacent communities in the southern parts of the San Francisco Peninsula and East Bay. It now reaches approximately from San Mateo (on the Peninsula) and the Fremont/Newark area in the East Bay down through San Jose, centered roughly on Sunnyvale.

He used it as the title of a series of articles “Silicon Valley USA” in a weekly trade newspaper Electronic News which started with the January 11, 1971 issue. Valley refers to the Santa Clara Valley, located at the southern end of San Francisco Bay, while Silicon refers to the high concentration of semiconductor and computer-related industries in the area.

Hollywood, in particular, Disney is against fair use in any possible way. By using Disney characters (I assume it’s unauthorized use, cos Disney won’t allow that happen) to explain fair use, in which the movie itself is an example of fair use (I assume it is fair use). I like the idea.

Fair use is never a clear cut. I am fine with that. I am fine with going to a judge and let him decide whether it’s fair use or not. I am against any kind of anti-circumvention law which practically abolish fair use.

At first you don’t really understand what the bok is about. Things are not put down as you’d expect from reading any of the authors previous works. Completely umlike “1234″ and the award acclaimmed “Abcd”, “Asdfas” takes a very surprising route. The narrative is very caotic, intricate, and really makes the reader play a game with the pages. It reminded me a little bit of Julio Cortázar’s work in “Hopscotch”. Great effort by indian postwar master Asdf.

Virginia Killer’s Violent Writings

APRIL 17–The college student responsible for yesterday’s Virginia Tech slaughter was referred last year to counseling after professors became concerned about the violent nature of his writings, as evidenced in a one-act play obtained by The Smoking Gun. The play by Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old English major, was submitted last year as part of a short story writing class. Entitled “Richard McBeef,” Cho’s bizarre play features a 13-year-old boy who accuses his stepfather of pedophilia and murdering his father. A copy of the killer’s play can be found below. The teenager talks of killing the older man and, at one point, the child’s mother brandishes a chain saw at the stepfather. The play ends with the man striking the child with “a deadly blow.” (10 pages)
